This peer reviewed journal aims at providing a platform for Arab and international researchers, and specifically those working in the Arab world, to publish research pertaining to the issues related to rapid changes affecting the built environment and issues related to the planning programs and the sustainability of these developments and their effects social, economic and physical effects. We are also particularly interested in understanding policy drivers. The UN-Habitat The State of Arab Cities 2012 articulates the challenges faced by the changing nature of Urbanization in the Arab World. Significant proportions of Urban Areas in The Arab world are classified as unplanned this poses significant challenges for the study, research, collection of data and establishing plans for development and the sustainability of these communities.
We are particularly interested in sharing experiences in collecting data and how that could be rolled out to various communities as significant portion of the Arab world suffer from lack of basic data sets that would allow better understanding of issues related urban development. Issues like, Population and urbanization, Environment, Transpiration, Economic development and sustainability, Housing, and related infrastructure. Issues of governance local versus national, land ownership and laws governing housing development are also of interest.
